Country Coat Waxed Cotton Olive
Our Country Coat has finally been realised in waxed cotton. It's a project that has been ongoing for quite a while, staying true to the garment and our ambitions to update the traditional British raglan sleeve jacket whilst shaking off some of the fustiness and associations they often carry.
The wax is a blend of 20% recycled yarns stripped from discarded denim and traditional cotton, enabling us to give the depth and texture one would expect of the waxed garments of yesteryear to contemporary pieces. Woven and waxed in the UK with a rich olive tone, the fabric offers excellent protection against wind and rain. The jacket will bloom with patina and a worn-in look over time, while the suede collar and plump appearance of the wax gives presence to our now iconic country coat silhouette.
Constructed just outside of Venice, a corduroy strip inside the garment will prevent the waxed fabric from touching garments worn underneath, whilst the suede strips added to the end of the sleeves serve the same purpose. A raglan sleeve construction, thick flap pockets with angled buttons and side access, swooshed front closure, two-way zip and covered press-stud placket makes for a clean, understated front. The back features a storm flap in a scalloped shape coupled with a cinch waist for a rippled effect, while the suede stand collar has the option of an attachable throat latch for inclement weather. Made in Italy, lined with tonal corduroy and our house check, a thick cotton twill made up of navy, green and soft red tones.
